For Better: How the Surprising Science of Happy Couples Can Help Your Marriage Succeed

By Tara Parker-Pope

Using studies from biology, neuroscience, psychology, and sociology, the author explores the theories behind how marriages survive or fail.  This compilation looks a little deeper into the statistics involving divorce (the 50% divorce rate is faulty logic), and uncovers individual, opposite personality traits that shouldn't marry, among other thoughts.
Most of the theories are common sense, but it's nice to know that they aren't just folk wisdom.  One study that struck me as light-weight, however, was about straight and gay couples and their fighting habits.  There was no allowing for hormone levels, just skin deep psychological studies.  However, I totally agreed with one study about how money is the most confrontational of all differences.  If you're a miser, don't marry someone who spends money like water!
