Dying For Chocolate by Diane Mott Davidson
Goldy Bear is back for a second installment of her catering mysteries. This time, an old flame dies in a car accident, with Goldy driving behind, unable to help him. Goldy can't shake the idea that his accident was no accident, but there's no proof. Her ex-husband is still stalking her & acting insane, and her 11 year old son 's latest obsession is magic. The other characters include random rich crazy people.
May I please remember how disappointed I was in this book! Goldy is paranoid about her son, but for all the wrong reasons. The kid needs mental health care, or at least someone willing to tell him what a little brat he is, but all his mom worries about is that he shouldn't swim outside when it's hailing. A few of the characters are likeable, the rest are just there to provide clues & help the plot along. Then there's the scenes of Goldy comforting herself with chocolate... if I read the words sinful, decadent, or silky confections again I might give up eating chocolate myself. And that's saying a lot.
