Size 12 Is Not Fat

Size 12 Is Not Fat by Meg Cabot

Heather Wells used to be a lot of things: rich, successful, and engaged to a handsome boy band idol.  Now she's struggling as a poor, used-to-be pop star who works as an assistant dorm director since her mother ran away with Heather's life savings and her fiance cheated on her. Things get really strained when the dead body of a female resident is found at the bottom of the elevator shaft.  No one believes Heather when she suspects that the coeds' death was not an accident, so it's up to her to solve the crime.

I really wanted to like this book: it's a funny, fluffy summertime read.  However, the main theme harps about how she gained weight & is now a SIZE TWELVE!!!, so she can't possibly be anything but a loser.  Of course, Heather is grotesquely huge because she eats all the time & never exercises.  Cryin' out loud, I am sick of that.  Anyone who eats a lot & doesn't exercise is going to be way bigger than a twelve, and anyone who eats nothing but lettuce and runs for miles everyday needs to enjoy life a little more.  Maybe the skinny people in the book wouldn't be so obnoxious if they ate a sandwich every once in a while.
