Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen
The Waverley women have always been considered magical and odd. Sydney Waverley escapes Bascom, North Carolina, to live a nomadic, carefree life. Ten years later, she returns to her hometown and prays that her abusive boyfriend never finds her, or their daughter Bay. She moves in with her sister Claire, who knows how to cook using the magic of the Waverley garden.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It reminded me of the movie Practical Magic, about two polar opposite sisters who have trouble with townsfolk that don't understand them. Great story about sisterhood and love.
