Die For Love by Elizabeth Peters
Jacqueline Kirby is bored stiff in Nebraska, and decides to attend a romance writer's conference in NYC. Why this conference? It's in New York, and she's hoping her college will pay her way since she's a librarian. Such is her train of thought. But all is not fluffy and lusty in romance-land... an unlovable, angry columnist appears to die of heart failure, but Jacqueline suspects it was murder.
This is the third of the Kirby series, and had a good setup, but the characters were not very likable. It's like the pink hearts decorations brought out their anger. Everyone has a reason to want the columnist dead, so it was fun to sort through the suspects, but there were so many that their back stories were thin. Overall, it was a pretty good story.
