The Penguin Who Knew Too Much

The Penguin Who Knew Too Much by Donna Andrews

Meg & Michael are finally moving their belongings into their almost renovated home, and plan to elope while their relatives are enjoying a festive housewarming Memorial Day weekend.  While Meg's father is digging a pond for penguins in her basement, he stumbles across the local zoo owners' body.  Hilarity ensues while more zoo animals are left at Meg's home, along with more relatives.

Okay, you can tell by the above summary that I'm getting a bit tired of this series.  Honestly, I don't know why I keep reading them.  I am particularly tired of Meg's parents... they are oblivious to the point of rudeness.  Why would her father assume it's fine to dig up Meg's basement & yard for zoo animals when he owns a farm next door?  Why would some relatives of the former owner think it's okay to dig holes in her backyard to look for another body?  Why would the police demand they not move in any more furniture until he's finished interviewing murder suspects?  Why do I give this family any more chances?  Maybe if Meg & Michael were away from her family for a change, I might keep my sanity.  The only one I still enjoy reading about is the dog.
