The Murders of Richard III by Elizabeth Peters
Jacqueline Kirby is invited to an English manor house for a medieval masquerade weekend. Unfortunately, instead of discussing Richard III's innocence, someone decides to re-enact the supposed murders committed by the long dead King. Jacqueline must catch the practical joker before he becomes a murderer.
Thankfully, I didn't know much about Richard III outside of the Shakespearean play, so the facts surrounding his reign were interesting. Otherwise it would have been a typical "only one person is smart enough to figure out the murderer" story.
